Parents and Guardians of Bixby High School Juniors:
On Wednesday, April 5th, students in the 11th grade will be taking the ACT with Writing Test at no charge to the student. The ACT is an Oklahoma High School Graduation Requirement and required for admission to most four- year colleges and universities. Students must arrive for test check-in no later than 8:45am and testing will begin at 9:00am. Students arriving late will not be allowed to test.
Student rosters will be posted in Junior English classrooms on Monday. If your student does not have an English class on Bixby campus, please have them check the rosters that will be posted outside the counseling office at the high school.
Students are not allowed to have access to their cell phones until testing is completed at 2:40pm. Students will be receiving a 15 minute break after the Mathematics Test and a 45 minute lunch break following the Science Test. Please stress to your student that cell phones are not allowed at any time during the test day. If a student is found with a cell phone device, their test will be invalidated and the student will need to retest on the make-up day on April 18th. After the test, students will have the option to leave school if the parent checks them out through the attendance office.
Tomorrow students will receive the ACT Testing Guide which contains test prep resources, information about prohibited items/behaviors, score reports, and instructions to complete non-test information. Students may also access an ACT test prep guide and practice tests on OkCollegeStart. Test Prep is found under the College Planning tab once the student has logged in.
Students should get plenty of sleep and eat a well-balanced breakfast. Students should bring the following items on test day:
Charged Chromebook
#2 pencils
Healthy snack and water bottle for mid morning break
Permitted calculator (optional) The online test has a built in calculator.
If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact Kelley Rampey at krampey@bixbyps.org.
Regards,
Mickey Replogle, BHS Principal
