Before break, Mrs. Kidd’s 5th graders’ service project was to make cards and deliver treats to the Bixby fire department. They learned that our firemen work on Christmas to keep us safe. 👨🚒 🚒 👩🚒

Before break, in Social Studies with Ms. Boushelle, 6th graders were learning about Christmas Traditions from around the world. On Tuesday/Wednesday, we learned about Iceland. On Christmas, they have the Yule Cat - which will come eat you if you are not wearing new clothes on Christmas. This tradition dates back to when farmers were encouraged to finish harvesting their wool in time for Christmas, and if they didn’t get it done, the Yule Cat would eat them! Since we couldn’t make new clothes in class, we tried to appease the Yule Cat by making cat toys. Which will be donated to a near by animal shelter! On Thursday, we learned about Ukraine and how a spider symbolizes good luck and fortune for the new year. In Ukraine and Germany, they decorate their tree using spiders and spider webs. We created spider ornaments using mini ornaments, wire, and beads that the kids can hang on the tree to bring them and their family good luck and prosperity!
🔴🔵Congratulations to MS. RICKLEMAN, BNI’s December Teacher of the Month!🔵🔴
Here are just a few of the things her students had to say about her:
“she tries super hard to teach us the right things to make us remember how to do it and always pushes us to our best. she is a great teacher.”
“Even though I don't have her, I have seen the joy that she gives her students including some of my friends. She deserves it.”
“She is strict but she has a good reason for being strict, 3/4 of the boys in my class are loud and disruptive and she is still kind about it.”
“she is so kind and has a very unuique way of teaching all her class's”
Thank you, Rickleman! We all love you and will miss you at BNI! ♥️

The week before Thanksgiving break, 5th graders had the honor of hearing from their favorite Meteorologist, Mike Collier! AKA: Reid’s dad. It was perfect timing too because they had just been studying WEATHER in their science classes. They learned a ton and enjoyed spending their morning learning all things weather from The Weather Man, himself. 🌦️🌪️☀️

Mrs. Boushelle’s 6th graders have started learning about body/organ systems and today was all about our circulatory system!🩸 They learned about the functions and parts of this system and how they all play a role to work together. We finished it off by working out our Circulatory System and getting our heart pumping! Students did a variety of easy exercises and then measured their heart’s bpm. Go, students! Go!!
