Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It’s Board of Education Meeting Night, Spartans. As always we start with recognition. From students to teachers, administrators and tonight, parents…there’s so much to celebrate at BPS! Tonight’s Spartan Spirit Award went to Rachel Irwin and Leslie Haughey, two parents at Bixby East Elementary who dedicated many, many hours to their school when an unexpected flood disrupted our kindergarten classrooms during the first week of school. These two wonderful parents are always among the hands on deck at Bixby East Elementary but during difficult times especially, we want to extend our deepest gratitude! Spartan Fans, We have our first HOME GAME at Lee Snider Stadium this week as our Spartans take on the Springdale Har-Ber Wildcats on Friday evening at 7 PM! It is also Military Appreciation Night and we look forward to honoring our veterans. As always, we expect a large crowd. Last weekend's events were an unfortunate reminder that although we want everyone to enjoy the Friday Night Lights atmosphere, safety must always remain our one priority. It was a proud day for Mrs. Thompson (former 9GC Teacher and current EdTech Specialist) earlier this week as she welcomed her previous students on their new journey as her new colleagues and Bixby Spartan educators. Welcome to the family to our new Spartan Teachers! Today we welcomed over 80 new educators to Bixby Public Schools at BPS New Teacher Training! Thank you to Bixby Bands, Bixby Spartan Dance Team, and Bixby Spartan Cheer for helping us celebrate! Three years ago TODAY, we opened the doors at our Bixby West Campus for the first time! Today, we cut the ribbon on the expansion. This new addition brings a total of 20 new classrooms and 30,000 additional square feet at Bixby West Elementary and Bixby West Intermediate! We are building an extraordinary future together, Spartans! We'd like to take this opportunity to once again thank our entire community for supporting #bixbybonds, making it ALL possible!

Mrs. Tusia's turn! She traveled up north this summer and even found a Tulsa penguin on Lake Michigan! She also visited the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Overall, this little towel traveled over 3,000 miles! #bixbybeachtowels
