Central Intermediate Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I hope you and your family have had a great summer and are feeling recharged for the upcoming school year. Our teachers and staff have enjoyed some time away from school, but we have missed seeing all of our kids! Mrs. Guthrie and I have been back for a few weeks, planning the best year ever! CI has seen some awesome updates this summer. While most of the school was painted just a couple of years ago, the rest of the building was painted over the summer, and lots of colorful accents were added. Additionally, all of the doors got a fresh coat of paint, making the school look and feel clean and updated.
For those I haven’t met yet, I am Denver Boren, and I have the honor and privilege to serve as the principal at Central Intermediate. I am from Broken Arrow and attended Oklahoma State and Northeastern State. My wife, Kaycee, and I have two daughters, Loretta and Charlee. We are big sports fans, and because she went to OU, it’s definitely a house divided during Bedlam. When I’m at home, I’m usually trying to keep up with my girls and watching sports.
Jamie Guthrie is our assistant principal and will now be with us full time! She has been at CI for the last two years but was shared with another site. We are absolutely thrilled to have her all day! Mrs. Guthrie and her husband, Tony, live in Bixby with their two daughters, Brooklynn and Addie. She is an Oklahoma State and University of Oklahoma alumna. Mrs. Guthrie’s educational background is in school psychology and special education. When she’s not at school, she stays busy with her family and home garden, teeming with lots of fresh veggies!
As administrators, we strongly believe in the partnership between parents and the school. We value and appreciate your support and help throughout the year. We genuinely believe in a team approach for our kids. Each CI student has a team of parents, teachers, counselors, aides, administrators, media specialists, health clerks, secretaries, cafeteria workers, and anyone else they need to help them succeed. We work collaboratively to help each student get what they need.
CI is growing, and we have some new faces! We added a 4th grade and a 6th grade class and now have our own specials teachers. We had some internal moves and filled positions by teachers and staff who moved on to other things. Here’s the rundown of our new teammates:
- 4th Grade - Susan Price Art - Kara Minton
- 5th Grade - Whitney Walker and Stephanie McLemore
- 6th Grade - Bailey Dean, Kerry Goode, and Jessica Ducker
- Media Specialist - Melissa Robinson
- Special Education - Brittany Hanley
- Media Aide - Tyler Palmer
- English Learners - Erica Hawkins
We are very excited about the upcoming school year, and we thank you for entrusting us with your students. As always, the car line will likely move slowly at the beginning of the year. Please be patient, follow the procedures, and understand that it will get faster. It always does!
For additional information about school procedures, car line, arrival and dismissal, bell schedule, etc., please check out this Procedures and FAQ page.
Mrs. Guthrie and I strive to make your child’s experience the absolute best it can be. If there is ever anything we can do for you or your child, please do not hesitate to reach out by calling the office or sending us an email (dboren@bixbyps.org or jguthrie@bixbyps.org). It’s always a great day to be a Spartan!
All my best,
Denver Boren
Principal
