FAQ’s

  • Why is BPS having a Virtual School Day? The State requires all juniors to take the ACT w/writing. There is no charge for Juniors to take the test. In order to give the ACT, all faculty and staff are needed to monitor. Therefore, 9th, 10th, & 12th graders will have a virtual day.

  • Is there anything I need to do to sign up for the Junior ACT? The district will register all students, so there is nothing you need to do to register for the test. All Juniors will be given non-test information to complete prior to test day. This will be given out through one of their class periods. If students are virtual or do not have a class on campus, they can stop by the counseling office and pick up their non-test information sheet (starting on March 29th). 

  • If I am an all virtual 11th grader, can I still participate in the ACT? YES! All 11th graders are required to test. This is a graduation requirement. 

  • Which grades will participate in the Virtual Day? 9th, 10th, & 12th. 

  • Why does Virtual Day not include 11th graders? All BPS juniors will be ON CAMPUS to take the ACT.

  • Will breakfast and lunch be provided as usual? Yes. 

  • What is the schedule for test day? All 11th graders will report to school as normal. Students will report directly to their testing rooms at 8:45. If students report late, they will not be permitted to test. The test will be given in the following order...English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, & Writing. Students will be given a lunch break from 12:30-1:30. They will then report back to their testing room to complete the Writing portion of the test. Testing will conclude around 2:30. 

  • Where are 11th graders supposed to report on April 7th? Students will be notified of their testing room number in their history classes. If the student does not have a history class, they can stop by the counseling office (starting on March 29th) to verify their testing room number. If they do not know where they are supposed to report, there will be teachers available on test day letting students know their testing room number. 

  • What do 11th graders need to bring to school for the ACT? The ACT will be administered online using the student’s Chromebook. Students will need their Chromebook fully charged as well as their chargers. Extra Chromebooks will not be available. If a student is having issues with their Chromebook, please take it to the Spartan Charge Helpdesk in the library prior to test day. Bring two pencils just in case scrap paper is used, an ACT-approved calculator (https://bit.ly/ACTcalcpolicy), and a photo ID. No backpacks, food, cell phones, or electronic devices (other than the student’s Chromebook) will be allowed. 

  • Will 11th graders taking the ACT have access to their phones? Per ACT regulations, students will NOT have access to their cell phones for the duration of the test. This includes lunch and break times. Parents should contact the BHS office in case of an emergency. Students are encouraged to leave their phones at home or in their vehicles. Student cell phones will not be allowed in the building.

  • What is Virtual School Day? Bixby High School, 9th Grade Center, and Brassfield Learning Center are “closed.” All 9th, 10th, & 12th grade students will complete work from home on Canvas.

  • What if I am an 11th or 12th grader and I attend TCC/Tulsa Tech? Even though Seniors are virtual, they will need to attend their TCC/Tulsa Tech classes. Tulsa Tech buses will continue to run as usual. Juniors will not be able to attend their TCC/Tulsa Tech classes. It is the responsibility of the student to notify their instructors. 

  • What will HS/9GC/BLC teachers do during Virtual School Day? Teachers will work their regular contract day on-site and assist with the administration and proctoring of the ACT. The 9GC teachers will continue with distance learning from their classrooms. They will not be assisting with the ACT. 

  • Will 6th hour athletics classes be in session? No. There will not be any athletic activities or practices prior to 3:45 PM.

  • Can students leave when testing is over? Yes. Students will not have to check out through the office. They will be dismissed after their last testing session. Buses will be running a normal AM & PM route. If students aren’t able to leave after testing, they will report to the auditorium. They will need to bring something to work on for the remainder of the day.
