Congratulations to Bixby Central Intermediate's Zoe Hong on her artwork featured at Philbrook Museum of Art! What an inspiration she is! Let her lesson be one to us all!
One of the artists in the show, Zoe Hong, said the image she submitted for āThe BIG Showā had its roots in her familyās experiences during the past few years.
The image, done primarily in pencil with tiny splashes of red, yellow and orange, shows the figure of a girl holding onto a briefcase from which scatter pieces of paper as she floats above the roofs of buildings, surrounded by a host of butterflies.
āWeāre moving, and thatās a little scary,ā said Zoe, a 10-year-old who attends Bixby Central Intermediate. āAnd we lost several members of our family in the last year or so. Thatās why I called this piece āClose Your Eyes, and Youāll Never See the Beauty.ā I want to tell people, āDonāt be scared. Try new things. It will all work out in the end.āā
