Each month our teachers engage in a monthly Great Expectations challenge. September's challenge was to include vocabulary and student work with classroom decorations. This month teachers across the district decorated their rooms with student work and word walls according to the Great Expectations classroom practice of creating an environment that is non-threatening and conducive to risk-taking (practice 6) and displaying learners' work (practice 10). Our teachers are so creative in utilizing an abundance of ideas to help students feel ownership in the decoration of their own classrooms. Additionally our teachers are creating vocabulary rich environments with interactive and student focused word walls. Congratulations to Julie Karalis for creating a multifaceted word wall using student work, enriched vocabulary, and Great Expectations materials!
