Bixby Public Schools Names Lydia Wilson as Next Superintendent

The Bixby Public Schools Board of Education is excited to announce the appointment of Lydia Wilson as the new Superintendent of Bixby Public Schools, effective July 1, 2025. A dedicated educator and long-time district leader, Wilson will take over for Rob Miller, who is retiring after more than thirty years in public education, including the last seven years as superintendent of Bixby schools.

With an impressive 37-year career in public education, Ms. Wilson brings extensive experience, trusted leadership, and a steadfast commitment to the students and families of Bixby. She has spent the past 32 years serving the Bixby community in various roles, including special education teacher, head of the district’s SafeTeam prevention and student support program, assistant principal at Bixby High School, and principal of Central Elementary for ten years. Additionally, Ms. Wilson served as interim superintendent for six months in early 2018 during the transition to Superintendent Miller.

Since 2018, Ms. Wilson has held the position of Associate Superintendent, collaborating closely with Mr. Miller to support strategic initiatives, curriculum alignment, and district-wide operations. Her steady leadership and deep institutional knowledge have been crucial to the district's continued growth and academic success.

“Lydia Wilson embodies the heart and soul of Bixby Public Schools,” said School Board President Tristy Fryer. “She has been a tireless advocate for students and staff for over three decades, and her thoughtful, student-centered approach to leadership made her the clear and unanimous choice to guide our district into the future.”

Ms. Wilson expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving the district she has long considered home. “Bixby has been my professional and personal family for most of my life,” said Wilson. “I am deeply honored and humbled by the Board’s confidence in me. I look forward to building upon the strong foundation established under Mr. Miller’s leadership and continuing the tradition of excellence that defines Bixby Public Schools.”

A formal transition process will take place in the coming months, providing opportunities for community engagement and input as Ms. Wilson prepares to assume her new role.
