Spartan Community:
We are heartbroken to share that a member of our Spartan family, Mrs. Maggie DuBois, was killed after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Bixby last Thursday. Maggie was in her second year as a first grade teacher at Central Elementary School, after previously teaching in Broken Arrow and Jenks.
Maggie possessed a warm heart, a keen sense of humor, a contagious laugh, a gentle spirit, and a radiant smile that made everyone around her feel appreciated and loved.
Bubbling with energy and enthusiasm, Maggie clearly loved being an educator. She exemplified the attributes of a great teacher in her ability to forge positive and affectionate relationships with students, families, and colleagues. A perfect fit for the CE school culture, Maggie was a creative and innovative teacher; knew ALL the cool things to do on Go Noodle; and was a wonderful colleague and friend. Her huge smile and loving personality will be sorely missed. More than anything, Maggie was passionate about her students and looked forward to seeing and hugging them everyday.
This is a great loss to our school district. Please be assured that we are prepared to support all of our students, parents and staff during this difficult time. We have scheduled additional school counselors, grief professionals, and school administrators to be on site when classes resume. We appreciate our wonderful families and the way our community comes together to support those in need.
Maggie impacted the lives of many and will be remembered and loved by all who knew her. Maggie is survived by her husband Chad DuBois and her two beloved daughters Evie (5) and Liza (2). Please join us in extending our deepest sympathies to Maggie’s family during this difficult time.
With sadness,
Rob Miller, Superintendent
