Today, exactly ten months after breaking ground, we celebrated the progress of Bixby West Elementary and Intermediate at the Topping Out Ceremony! If you're wondering just what that means....keep reading.
A construction "topping out" ceremony is a time-honored tradition celebrated when the last steel beam is raised in place at the highest point of the building, a small evergreen tree is attached to the beam along with the American Flag.
The tree signifies the safe completion of the framing of the structure, and a wish for continued good luck for the future of the building project— and its eventual occupants.
Those eventual occupants, our students and educators, are the most important part to us. We certainly look forward to seeing all of the potential and dreams this building will foster!
Thank you to all who have helped make this project happen!
