BPS Welcomes New Principals

Introduction of New Principals

Fellow Spartans,

We are delighted to announce the appointment of two exceptional educators to assume the role of principal at two of our district schools. Their extensive experience and passion for education make them valuable additions to our leadership team.

Ms. Rachel Chinsethagid - Bixby North Elementary

Ms.Chinsethagid just finished her 13th year as an educator and has been highly successful in every role she has filled. Before joining BPS in 2021, Rachel was a site teacher of the year and “Vision of Excellence'' award winner in her previous district. She served one year as an instructional coach in Bixby and was promoted to assistant principal at North Elementary at the start of the past school year. With the recent departure of Kelly Mears, we have appointed Rachel as the interim principal for 2023-2024. Rachel is dedicated to building positive school culture, promoting student growth and ensuring every child receives a high-quality education. Her positive spirit, collaborative approach and strong communication skills will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of BNE.

Mr. Curtis Whiteley - Bixby Ninth Grade Center

Mr. Whiteley is joining BPS after five years as an assistant principal at Owasso High School. Curtis is a 2003 graduate of BHS. He and his wife, Katy,  have made Bixby their home and have three children who attend Bixby Schools. Curtis has multiple Masters degrees and is about to complete his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Oklahoma State University. Curtis has a professional reputation for fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and staff members, and he believes in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all. We are confident that his expertise and leadership will greatly benefit our Ninth Grade Center.

Following board approval last Thursday, Rachel and Curtis will begin their new assignments immediately. Over the next few weeks, they will be meeting with district leaders, fellow principals and school staff to ensure a smooth transition of leadership at both sites.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Chinsethagid and Mr. Whiteley on their appointments. We look forward to their positive contributions to our schools and the continued success of our students.

Sincerely,

Rob Miller

Superintendent
