Testing for Gifted Services (updated 8-5-13)
If you are new to Bixby Public Schools and wish to have your child evaluated for Gifted & Talented Services, please contact the counselor or gifted coordinator for your child's site.
In 2nd grade, students new (since February) to the Bixby district are eligible for testing. The test date is Monday, August 26th, 2013 at all elementary sites. Students must return a signed permission slip.
All 3rd grade students will be tested on Tuesday, August 27th, 2013 unless parents opt out of the testing process. In other words, if you want your child to be tested, you don't need to do anything.
4th, 5th, & 6th grade students have the opportunity to test during the first weeks of the school year. Students at Central Intermediate will be testing on Friday, August 23rd, 2013. Students at North East Intermediate will be testing on Monday, August 26th, 2013. If you don't receive a permission slip and are interested in testing contact the gifted coordinator as soon as possible. Parents must give written permission for their child to be tested.
Any new student to the district should consider being evaluated at the beginning of the school year.
Bixby Public School's mission is to provide educational excellence for all members of our school community. Our goal is to provide quality, research based curriculum and instruction that prepare all students for the future in a technology based society. Bixby Public School's gifted program constantly seeks innovative ways to engage gifted students in education by establishing venues for students to develop research and problem solving skills, create products, serve others and showcase accomplishments. Every attempt is made to insure that students do not have to "wait to learn".
