About the Teacher

My name is Julie Skidmore and I am the art instructor at Central Intermediate. I have  my BSE in Art Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. I have been teaching art for many years and have taught all ages.This is my sixth year at Central Intermediate. It is a wonderful school with great kids and staff!

Central Intermediate offers a general art class for 4th- 6th grades. Fourth and fifth grade classes meet every third day and sixth grade classes meet every day for 12 weeks. 6th grade classes begin with an opening drawing or creative development activity. The classes cover drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, fibers and printmaking.

In addition to art class I also offer Community Education classes after school a couple of times a semester for students who enjoy art and want to try new techniques and experiment with different mediums. There is a minimal cost for these classes. 

I love teaching children art and helping them to explore their creativity and developing their artistic ability. I believe creativity is useful in every aspect of our lives and can be applied in many different areas. My hope is that your child will grow to appreciate the history and power of visual arts as well as enjoying the creative process.
