17 September | GAST Youth Laserquest Triplequest Night 5-10pm. Meet at Laserquest near the intersection of 31st and Sheridan, email anovak@bixbyps.org by 14 September to rsvp. Cost is $15 for 3 games. |
18 September | German Teacher Dinner at Siegi’s Sausage Factory 6:30-8pm. Teachers: bring your calendars and ideas for the essay contest! I’m looking forward to meeting up with everyone! |
19 September | Savoring Sister Cities 7pm. Check this event out if you get the chance! A tasting of cuisine from all of Tulsa’s sister cities. YUM! |
24 September | Starworld Movie Night 6:30pm. Come to see THOR auf Deutsch with English subtitles. Open to the public! Cost is $10 general admission or $5 for GAST Youth Members. GAST Youth Cards go on sale tonight! The 2012 GAST Essay Contest will also open tonight and essay topics and entry forms, as well as sign-ups for the upcoming folk-dancing class and volunteering for Oktoberfest will also be available. |
3 October | Volkstanz Class at GAST 6:30pm. This event is FREE and open to all youth, young and old! We’re meeting at GAST in the Weinkeller (downstairs) 15th & Lewis. Bis dann! |
7 October | German American Day festivities 3pm at the GAST Center. FREE and open to the public! |
17 October | Oktoberfest Field Trip 5:30/5:45-10pm. Cost is $15 or $10 for GAST Youth Members and includes transportation, entrance to the festival, and $3 in festival money. You are encouraged to bring additional cash for food/soda/merchandise purchases. You MUST RSVP to anovak@bixbyps.org by 10-16-2012. If you do not need transportation, you can meet our bus group at the festival entrance at River Parks West at 5:45pm. This trip is limited to 30 participants. RSVP is required! 18-21 October | Oktoberfest Tulsa! If you would like to volunteer for shifts, please contact Jennifer Kearns @ jennifer.kearns@dtag.com by 10-14-2012. Volunteer work is sehr easy and includes free entrance to the festival as well as a free meal after your shift and not to mention the fabulous Gemütlichkeit of the festival! |

3 November | Oktoberfest Party and Schnitzel Dinner @ GAST 5:30-9pm. Cost is $10.00 for those who volunteered at Oktoberfest, non-volunteer students $20.00. This event requires an RSVP to 918.744.6997 by 10-31-2012. |

10 November | “German Danger Day”-- in honor of the notorious November 9. Wanderung Hike Trip to Robbers Cave State Park with Dinner at Pete’s Place in Krebs 6am-10pm. This event requires an RSVP to anovak@bixbyps.org. Cost is $15 to GAST members, $20 to non-members. We will depart at 6am, eat a hearty breakfast and bring a sack lunch for our Wanderung in the Oklahoma countryside at beautiful autumn-hued Robbers Cave State Park! We will hike and explore and then eat dinner at Pete’s Place in Krebs “family style.” |
12 November | Amish Dinner at the Miller Family Farm in Chouteau 5:45-9:30pm. Cost is $15 to GAST youth members, $20 to non-members. This is an all-you-can-eat Turkey dinner with all the fixin’s, tea and coffee service, and pies, several varieties! Transportation is provided and will shuttle pickup at TCC SE campus near the entrance at 5:45pm (look for a Bixby school bus). Dinner is served at 7. 15-17 November | Kids’ World at Expo Square We’re seeking youth and adult volunteers! Shifts are 15th: 2:15-6:15pm; 16th: 2:15-5:15pm, 5-8pm; 17th: 8:30-11:45, 11:30-2:30pm, 2:15-5:15pm, 5-8pm Community service forms are available from the GAST youth director for your service. 18 November | Volkstrauertag to El Reno, Oklahoma 10am-7pm. Learn more about this special day in German and Oklahoma history. Visit the German POW camp that dates to WW2. This event is free, but please bring some lunch money for the road trip. We will carpool and depart from the GAST Center at 10am. Please email anovak@bixbyps.org for more information. |
